It gave us heat, light, tools, protection and innovation. It changed our diet and has shaped our culture. For nearly a million years, humans have been gathering around and cooking on fire. Our DNA has been shaped by it and consequently we are hardwired into its fundamental incandescent generosity. The ancient Greeks honoured Hestia as guardian of the hearth; the Romans followed with Vesta, protector of the sacred flame, who’s role was to protect the tradition of iconic storytelling around the open hearth. This ritual has been going on for as long as homo sapiens have walked the earth.
Long before Cashmere Caveman Co. became a global brand, its seed was already there: in warmth, in gathering, and in the elemental pull of a naked flame.
For our founder, world-renowned film director and storyteller Guy Ritchie, fire has always represented more than just heat. It is a ritual, a rhythm; it is a social epicentre, the place where people naturally gravitate to without instruction or invitation. It doesn’t demand attention, it earns it. And when done properly, it draws people closer, not just physically but socially.
Yet somewhere along the way, modern outdoor living lost touch with this elemental instinct.
Cashmere Caveman Co. was created to bring it back.
When outdoor living lost its soul
Outdoor entertaining should be one of life’s great pleasures – it should be entertaining.
But in practice the reality often falls short. Barbecues are functional but isolating, pushing the cook into a smoke-filled corner with their back to guests. Fire pits are atmospheric but impractical: smoke stings eyes, clings to clothes, and heat comes in frustrating waves — too much or too little. Patio heaters offer warmth but no soul.
Modern outdoor living became fragmented, awkward, and ultimately forgettable. In an increasingly digital world, people began drifting back indoors.
There had to be a better way.
Why Cashmere Caveman Co. exists
The original insight was deceptively simple: Warmth keeps people outside.
Comfort is essential for enjoyment, and especially for entertainment. Remove the smoke, regulate the heat, and suddenly outdoor living becomes something pleasurable and realistic – a lifestyle rather than a workaround.
Guy loved cooking over fire and he loved hosting outdoors. But he found himself constantly shifting chairs, managing smoke, shouting across grills, or people retreating indoors when the cold crept in and the comfort faded.
Fire was there — but the experience was broken.
The birth of the WildTable
The first idea was sparked in 2015 at Guy’s Ashcombe Estate in Wiltshire. Surrounded by nature and frequently hosting chefs, friends and colleagues, the shortcomings of existing outdoor cooking solutions became impossible to ignore.
Guy imagined a fire that could do three things at once:
- Deliver even, reliable warmth
- Offer precise temperature control through managed airflow
- Be an exceptional cooking device in its own right, not an afterthought
It needed to be an outdoor heater, a grill, and a dining table in one — beautifully engineered, but uncompromising in function.
When the firebox had been mastered, something remarkable happened - It naturally became the centre of everything.
No longer were people standing to one side, they were seated around the central flame. Heat radiated evenly to all guests, encouraging them to sit comfortably for longer, and conversations flowed more easily across the fire. Time slowed down.
The fire was no longer decorative, and cooking became a shared spectacle. And when the temperature dropped, no one felt the urge to leave.
Fire had become the centre again. The WildTable was born.
“The Grill of Your Dreams”
After several years of refinement, the WildTable became what Guy describes as “the grill of your dreams.”
From a single firebox, it allows you to: Grill, Fry, Smoke, Slow-roast, Bake, Steam and Boil.
It works with both charcoal and wood fuel, so you can cook with precision or simply enjoy watching flames flicker beneath the glass.
Our philosophy
This fusion of warmth and cooking became the philosophy of Cashmere Caveman Co.
There were no gimmicks. There was no desire to overload the experience with unnecessary features or flashy additions. Every decision was guided by one question:
Does it improve the experience?
This philosophy shaped everything that followed. Materials were chosen for longevity and touch. Controls were designed to feel instinctive, not technical. The experience was refined, and fire was still fire - it crackled, glowed, and commanded respect - but it had been civilised.
A Revolution in Outdoor Living: The WildKitchen
While the WildTable solved outdoor warmth and cooking, Guy saw an opportunity to go even further. Why should outdoor entertaining end when the seasons change?
The answer was The WildKitchen.
At its heart sits the WildTable, but now housed within the world’s first fully retractable canvas and hardwood WildTent - creating an immersive, all-season fire-cooking and entertainment space. Free from weather conditions and the constraints of bricks and mortar.
The WildKitchen allows you to:
- Retract the roof completely to stargaze on warm nights
- Close everything up completely against wind, rain, and cold without killing the atmosphere
- Cook, dine, and gather year-round
- Stay warm, sheltered, and connected - but still outside
For the first time, al-fresco dining became true all-weather living.
Why Cashmere Caveman Co. Matters
At its core, Cashmere Caveman Co. exists to reconnect people — through food, through fire, and through shared experience.
It rejects the idea that luxury must be delicate or distanced. Instead, it embraces a more grounded form of refinement, one that values warmth, spectacle and experience. Connection over exclusivity; Fire without chaos; Cooking without isolation; and luxury without pretence - outdoor living without compromise.
Guided by Guy’s instinct for storytelling, craftsmanship, and elemental design, Cashmere Caveman Co. strips outdoor living back to its primal essentials — then refines them for modern life.
Today, the brand is defined by three signature creations:
- The WildTable-a masterpiece of fire-cooking and outdoor heating
- The WildTent-the world’s first fully retractable canvas and hardwood shelter
- The WildKitchen-a turnkey, year-round outdoor living space
Together, they represent a new way to live outdoors, a way to bring people together around fire and food like never before.
